Step 1: Check Your Binoculars

Before you begin, ensure that your binoculars come with a neck strap. Some binoculars don’t come with a neck strap, that’s why I always recommend everyone to choose only those binoculars that come with additional accessories which include a neck strap, and a carrying case. Some binoculars do have a different type of strap, such as a shoulder strap or a harness. Ensure that you have the right type of strap before proceeding.

Step 2: Choose the Right Neck Strap

Before you attach a neck strap to your binoculars, make sure that you choose the right neck strap for your binoculars. There are many types of neck-straps available in the market, such as leather, nylon, neoprene, and others.

I recommend you choose the one that is comfortable, durable, and suits your needs. If you have a heavy pair of binoculars, then go with a wider and padded neck strap that distributes the weight evenly and reduces the pressure on your neck.

Step 3: Locate the Mounting Points or Strap Lugs

Most binoculars have two mounting points or strap lugs. These are small metal or plastic rings located on either side of your binoculars. These mounting points are usually located on the hinge where the binoculars fold in half or near the eyepieces or on the top of the binoculars. Look for the small metal loops or holes on each side of the binoculars.

Step 4: Thread the Strap

Take one end of the neck strap and thread it through one of the strap lugs. Take one end of the neck strap and insert it through the metal loop or hole on one side of the binoculars. Then, take the other end of the neck strap and insert it through the metal loop or hole on the other side of the binoculars. Make sure that the strap is securely in place.

Step 5: Adjust the Length of the Strap

Once the neck strap is attached, you will need to adjust the length to make it more comfortable to wear. To do this, pull the strap through one of the lugs until it reaches the desired length. Repeat this process on the other side as well.  You must ensure that is hang comfortably around your neck without being too loose or too tight.

Step 6: Check the Security of the Neck Strap

Once you have attached the neck strap to the binoculars, check the security of the neck strap. Give the binoculars a gentle tug to ensure that the neck strap is securely attached. By doing this, you will get confidence that your binoculars won’t fall off while you are walking or moving around.

Step 7: Enjoy Your Binoculars

Now that your binoculars are securely attached to your neck, you can enjoy using them without the fear of dropping them. This was the complete process and if you follow it stepwise, rest assured that you will be able to put a neck strap to binoculars quite comfortably.
